REACH
LIS joined the R.E.A.C.H. initiative with seven other Maui intermediate/middle schools whose focus was athletics. These activities focus on sportsmanship and character development and are delivered in a structured environment that instills self-discipline, builds self-confidence, fosters quality relationships and boosts school pride and improves student attendance, behavior, coursework and grades, including promoting active lifestyles and addressing childhood obesity which has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years.
B-ball
The Lahaina Wildfire had a major impact on those interested in playing basketball this year. The Basketball season is in the first quarter of the school year. The LIS campus was closed and students enrolled in several of the other intermediate schools in the area. Those students interested in basketball ended up having to play for other teams this y
Brycen Acio played for the Maui Waena Falcons this year and has transferred back to LIS.

Four former LIS students suit up for other schools this basketball seasom. Jaze Lazo played for the Lokelani Waveriders; Zion Inaldo played for the Kalama Panthers; while Simao Donre and Khyson Manglaylay joined the Maui Waena Falcons. Khyson has since reenrolled at LIS.
Ace Palacio helped out the Lokelani Waveriders and has now reenrolled at LIS.
Wrestling
The 2023-2024 LIS REACH wrestling team had a late start to their season, but they have been working hard learning the sport of wrestling and all of the different moves and scoring positions. The competition schedule has taken them to Lokelani, Iao, Hana, and Kamehameha schools (intermediate championships on December 9th).
The boys roster includes: Lahuiakua Abellanida, Takoda Armitage, Drew Briones, AJ Cabanilla, Haweo Gonzales, Damian Hussey-Melekiola, Chase Loebl, Ezekiel Nava, Carter Shibao, and Kaeson Sumajit. The girls roster includes: Mackenzie Aquino Perreira, Sheylah Boaz Vasquez, Kailea Escamilla Maddela, Jaiyana Kaholokula, Hazzlyn Manuel, Lilia Niles, Aulii Tihada, and Cami Yasutake. Coaches include: Iverly Navarro, Christian Balagso, Jojo Hidalgo, Neal Nakata, and Todd Hayase. Imua!
